Resident Evil Requiem has crossed an estimated 500 million dollars in revenue since its February 27, 2026 launch, according to fresh industry tracking released in the last day. The ninth mainline entry is now running ahead of every previous Resident Evil title on a revenue-pace basis and is being projected to overtake the Resident Evil 4 remake, which sits above 600 million dollars after three years on the market. Analyst figures put the player and copy count near 8.5 million across PlayStation 5, Steam, and Xbox Series consoles, with Nintendo Switch 2 also in the platform mix. Capcom’s last official unit update earlier in the year sat lower than that estimate, so the new 500 million dollar mark should be read as third-party modeling rather than a company earnings release. Even so, the direction is consistent: Requiem is the fastest Resident Evil game to reach this revenue band and remains one of Capcom’s defining commercial pillars for 2026. The story follows FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft and Leon S. Kennedy nearly three decades after the Raccoon City incident, and that pairing has clearly found an audience on current hardware.

Platform split is one of the clearest data points in the new numbers. PlayStation 5 accounts for about 48.1 percent of the tracked audience, or roughly four million copies, making it the lead platform. Steam follows at about 43.4 percent, or close to 3.7 million. Xbox Series hardware sits near 8.6 percent, around 700,000 copies. On PS5 specifically, physical discs still matter: about 30 percent of that platform’s sales, or roughly 1.2 million units, are boxed copies even as the wider industry debates the future of optical media. Those physical numbers are notable because they show a premium horror release still moving discs at scale months after launch. Pricing strategy also appears in the analysis. Catalog discounts from Capcom moved more copies of Requiem than the opening weekend of the new theatrical reboot, which posted a series-best film start above 108 million dollars worldwide. Engagement around older Resident Evil games rose after the movie arrived, but Requiem itself saw only a modest sales wobble during that window because many of those extra transactions happened at reduced prices.

The revenue climb sits inside a broader Capcom stretch of high catalog and new-release performance. Requiem launched at the end of February and has kept selling through spring and summer promotions rather than collapsing after the opening quarter. A story-focused downloadable expansion has already been discussed for a later window, with some reports pointing toward late 2027, and a tenth mainline game is widely assumed to be in planning. None of that future slate changes the current snapshot: 500 million dollars, a PS5-led platform mix, a still-healthy physical share on Sony hardware, and a trajectory that analysts say can pass the Resident Evil 4 remake if discount cycles continue. For the industry, the takeaway is straightforward. A mainline survival-horror sequel released in early 2026 is still compounding seven months later, film synergy helped awareness more than full-price attach, and PlayStation plus PC remain the commercial core of the series even as Xbox and Switch 2 carry smaller slices of the same pie.
