Hearth Bound is a relaxing co-op fantasy home building game developed by Lowkey Gamedev in Canada using Unreal Engine 5. Players gather friends to build and decorate a shared cozy hearth together, placing hundreds of fantasy-inspired furnishings, expanding rooms freely, and creating everything from cottages and taverns to gardens and workshops. The game emphasizes discovery-based progression where placing objects unlocks new furniture categories and themes, supported by powerful placement tools including move, rotate, scale, snap, and room expansion features.

Designed as a true co-op first experience, friends can join instantly via invites for side-by-side building. The world uses a PCG-based voxel-like system for freely pushing and pulling walls, floors, and ceilings while keeping network performance efficient through a replicated listen server architecture built mostly in Blueprints. Quality-of-life tools such as duplicate, mass placement, custom named collections, and multi-prop presets enhance creativity. Players can share their evolving home with interactive pets and critters that can even be petted, adding to the cozy atmosphere.

The project originated as a quick homage to World of Warcraft’s housing system after the developer played the Midnight expansion on February 27, 2026, drawing on prior experience as Technical Lead for base building in Starship Troopers: Extermination. Within roughly 23 days, it evolved into a distinct cozy title with enhanced free building, pets, and QOL features. A demo launches during Steam’s House & Home Fest on March 30th, with full Early Access planned for April 6, 2026. The roadmap includes more assets like room and profession sets, expanded catalog management, and additional pets. The game is fully data-driven with Gameplay Tags, Enhanced Input, Common UI, and automated asset pipelines for rapid iteration.
