News: Claws of Awaji - Assassin's Creed Shadows DLC Out Now
Ubisoft released Claws of Awaji, the first major expansion for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, on September 16, 2025, available on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, macOS, Steam, Epic Games Store, Ubisoft Store, and Amazon Luna. Free for those who pre-ordered the base game or included with a Ubisoft+ subscription, it’s also available as a standalone purchase for $25 USD. Developed by Ubisoft Bordeaux with support from multiple studios, this expansion requires completing the main story arcs of Naoe and Yasuke, including the “Out of the Shadows” quest, to access its over 10 hours of content set on the mysterious Awaji Island.
In Claws of Awaji, Naoe and Yasuke venture to Awaji, beyond Osaka Bay, chasing a mysterious shinobi and a lost treasure. They face the ruthless Sanzoku Ippa faction, navigating vibrant cities, maritime landscapes, traps, and ambushes in a tense, new open-world region. The expansion adds new skills, weapon abilities, armor, and gear for both characters, transferable to the main game, enhancing combat against new enemy types and challenging bosses. All players gain access to Naoe’s new Bo Staff through a free quest, a fast, agile weapon for fluid combos, while expansion owners can unlock exclusive Legendary Bo Staves with unique engravings on Awaji.
Following months of post-launch updates for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, including New Game+ and Nightmare difficulty, the September 11 update introduced quality-of-life features like time fast-forwarding and automatic fog clearing after syncing viewpoints. The base game, developed by Ubisoft Quebec, immerses players in feudal Japan as stealthy shinobi Naoe and samurai Yasuke, offering dynamic combat and a richly detailed world shaped by political unrest. Currently up to 40% off, Claws of Awaji extends this journey with a darker, spookier narrative, appealing to fans eager for more of Naoe and Yasuke’s story.
