News: ArcheAge Chronicles Launches into Steam Early Access in November
Developer XLGAMES has confirmed that ArcheAge Chronicles, its open-world action MMORPG, will enter Steam Early Access on November 3rd, while pre-orders opened on October 27th. Anyone who pre-orders receives the exclusive Dawn Pioneer Set costume, limited to one set for a single class of the player’s choice and claimable in-game at launch. The studio, which both develops and publishes the title, highlighted the game’s strong performance during Steam Next Fest: October 2026 Edition, where a playable demo ran from October 19 to 26 and finished fifth on Steam’s official Most Played Demos list. Players praised the Unreal Engine 5 visuals and a combat system centered on the interplay of offense and defense, featuring parries and cancels, along with positive reactions to the PvP content. Many expressed excitement about the potential and looked forward to further improvements once Early Access begins.
Set in Auroria fifty years after the events of the original ArcheAge, ArcheAge Chronicles combines fast, combo-driven combat, weapon-specific skills, and a cinematic story campaign with the open-world freedom, crafting, trade, and housing that defined its predecessor. On the Steam store page, the Early Access build is described as featuring three regions—Diamond Shores, Gylden Ruins, and Astron Plains—along with four classes each equipped with two weapons for a total of eight. Content includes exploration, dungeons, raids, PvP, housing, crafting, trading, and company and guild activities, with players free to forge their own path rather than follow a fixed narrative. Executive Producer Yongjin Ham noted that feedback from the Next Fest demo will continue to shape regular updates throughout Early Access, and the studio remains committed to staying connected with players beyond the early-access period as the game works toward its full potential. The Steam page further indicates that Early Access is expected to last approximately nine to twelve months, during which major and minor updates will expand the world and introduce refinements based on community input.
Looking ahead, the full version is planned to differ by expanding regions with new adventures and stories, gradually introducing additional gender options for classes, adding a third weapon for each class, and refining combat balance, character progression, and quality-of-life features such as party channels, while also expanding life skills and community content. Combat itself is presented as fluid and sophisticated, supporting melee, ranged, and magic styles with dynamic actions including jumping, rolling, dashing, blocking, and parrying. Life skills encompass hunting, gathering, housing, farming, and crafting, enabling players to trade, defend routes, and build a pioneer society. The announcement underscores XLGAMES’ intention to grow the world of Auroria alongside its players, incorporating feedback to realize the game’s full potential as an evolution of the MMORPG genre that blends intense action with the landmark open-world systems of ArcheAge.
