News: Anima: Song from the Abyss is set for a 2027 Release
The Anima Project Studio has announced that Anima: Song from the Abyss will launch in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. This third-person Action RPG brings to life the world of Gaia from the acclaimed Anima: Beyond Fantasy tabletop RPG book series. Players will descend into a dark fantasy adventure centered around a mysterious song tied to a forgotten civilization. The game blends traditional pen-and-paper RPG elements with intense hack and slash combat, offering a narrative-driven experience full of secrets and choices that impact the story and character fates.
The story begins aboard an imperial zeppelin thrown into chaos as most of the crew vanishes mysteriously. Soren, the last surviving knight, guards a powerful relic from an ancient civilization. In a desperate bid to save the airship, he frees a legendary entity named Noein imprisoned within the artifact. As the zeppelin crashes into the enigmatic realm known as the Abyss, Noein offers Soren a chance at survival in exchange for helping uncover the truth behind the song that doomed the ancient civilization and led to her imprisonment. Players control two distinct protagonists, switching between them dynamically while exploring an interconnected open world filled with danger, epic bosses like huge wyrms and legendary monsters, and memorable characters to bond with through decisions and actions.
Key features include a gripping story rich in mysteries, a deep and intuitive combat system fusing fast-paced real-time action with RPG elements, and the ability to level up, unlock, and customize unique abilities for each character. Players can forge weapons and experiment with countless combinations. The game emphasizes exploration across varied environments, uncovering new areas and secrets. Developed by a small Spanish indie team of three passionate creators—Carlos B. Garcia, Sergio Almagro, and Miguel Hernandez—Anima Project previously released Anima: Gate of Memories and The Nameless Chronicles in the same universe. With no user reviews yet on Steam and coming soon status, Anima: Song from the Abyss promises fluid combat, a multifaceted narrative, and an unforgettable journey through the Abyss.
